Angela Inés Cadena Monroy

Associate Professor, Universidad de los Andes

Dr. Angela Ines Cadena Monroy is an associate professor in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at the University of los Andes, Bogotá. She has a PhD in Management Sciences from the University of Geneva. She has more than 30 years of professional and academic experience devoted to energy policy design and regulatory analysis; energy economy and environmental modelling; and evaluation of climate change mitigation actions. At Uniandes, she has been leading research projects aimed at building the marginal abatement cost curves for the Sectorial Mitigation Plans and advising the Government to define the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC). She has also developed research project related to smart grids for different Colombian utilities and public sector organisations. Angela was the General Director of the National Energy and Mining Planning Office (UPME). She oversaw production of the National Energy and Mining Strategies and the Electric Power Generation and Transmission Plans. She has been involved heavily in the ongoing dialogue regarding Colombia’s United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) processes as wells as renewable integration and demand-side management.
