Switzerland

Switzerland’s NDC commits to 50% reduction of GHG emissions below 1990 levels by 2030 and to net zero emissions by 2050.

Three-quarters of the target will be achieved with domestic reductions, and the reminding amount will come from non-domestic emission reductions, using the options provided by Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. Switzerland has so far reached a bilateral agreement with Peru to provide some of those emission reductions.

Among the most significant domestic policies, Switzerland has implemented a carbon levy on fossil fuels.
